Geotechnical Investigation for Foundation Design Services


This service includes field explorations and tests, laboratory testing as well as a final report. 
FIELD EXPLORATIONS AND TESTS:

  • PROVIDE GEO-TECHNICAL REPRESENTATIVE FOR FIELD SUPERVISION TO MONITOR WORK FOR TECHNICAL COMPLIANCE.
  • BORING IN SOFT MEDIUM, STIFF TO VERY STIFF SOIL & IN ROCK LAYERS.
  • ROTARY CORING METHOD USING DOUBLE TUBE CORE BARRELS FOR OBTAINING ROCK CORES.
  • DIFFERENT DRILLING METHOD SUCH AS CONTINUOUS FLIGHT AUGER, ROTARY DRILLING, WASH BORING & CONTINUOUS CORING MIGHT BE USED ACCORDING TO THE SUBSOIL STRATA TYPE.
  • PERFORMING STANDARD PENETRATION TESTS AND OBTAINING SAMPLES USING A SPLIT-BARREL SAMPLER
  • OBTAINING UNDISTURBED SAMPLES USING A TUBE SAMPLER (SHELBY TUBE).
  • LABELING, BOXING AND TRANSPORTING SOIL SAMPLES AND ROCK CORES TO AN APPROVED STORAGE
  • AREA AND/OR TESTING LABORATORY.
    • INSTALLING GROUND WATER OBSERVATION WELLS.
    • PERFORMING FIELD PERMEABILITY TESTS IN SELECTED GROUND WATER OBSERVATION WELLS.
    • PERFORMING HAND DYNAMIC PENETRATION TEST.
    • PERFORMING PLATE LOAD TEST.
    • PERFORMING FIELD RESISTIVITY TESTS USING (WENNER 4 PIN METHOD OR EQUIVALENT) IN ACCORDANCE WITH ASTM G 57.

  • ACTIVE, PASSIVE, AND AT REST SOIL PRESSURE COEFFICIENTS, WITH DESIGN RECOMMENDATIONS FOR ANCHORS/DEADMEN.
  • COLLAPSE OR SWELLING PROPERTIES OF THE SOILS.
  • DISCUSSION OF RESULTS OF INVESTIGATION WITH RELEVANCE TO FOUNDATION DESIGN AND CONSTRUCTION.
  • RECOMMENDED ALLOWABLE BEARING PRESSURES AND EXPECTED SETTLEMENT VALUES.
  • RECOMMENDATIONS REGARDIN PILE LENGTHS, CAPACITIES AND TYPES, SHOULD PILING BE REQUIRED.
  • RECOMMENDATIONS’ REGARDING GROUND IMPROVEMENTS, IF THIS IS LIKELY TO BE AN ECONOMIC OPTION.
  • TOTAL AND DIFFERENTIAL SETTLEMENTS UNDER TANKS OF DIFFERENT DIAMETERS.
  • COMMENTS AND RECOMMENDATIONS REGARDING USE OF ON-SITE EXCAVATED MATERIAL FOR STRUCTURAL FILL, INCLUDING LIFT THICKNESSES, AND METHODS OF COMPACTION.
  • AVAILABILITY OF SUITABLE FILL MATERIAL OUTSIDE OF SITE.
  • RECOMMENDATIONS FOR DISPOSAL OF UNSUITABLE EXCAVATED SITE SOIL.
  • RECOMMENDATIONS FOR SIDE SLOPES (TEMPORARY AND PERMANENT) TO BUNDS AND EMBANKMENTS, CUT FACES, AND ANY RELEVANT EROSION PROTECTION.
  • CBR VALUES AND RECOMMENDATIONS FOR ROAD, PARKING AREA AND AREA PAVEMENT CONSTRUCTION.
  • ELECTRICAL RESISTIVITY OF THE SOILS IN OHM CENTIMETERS, FOR CALCULATION OF RESISTANCE TO SOIL FOR EQUIPMENT GROUNDING, AND BURIED SERVICE CATHODIC PROTECTION.
  • PH, SULPHATE, CHLORIDE, GYPSUM, ORGANIC MATTER AND OTHER SOIL/GROUNDWATER CHEMICALS AGGRESSIVE TO CONCRETE AND BURIED SERVICES.
  • DEPTH OF FROST LINE AND EVALUATION OF FROST SUSCEPTIBILITY AND FROST HEAVE OF THE SOILS.
  • LIKELIHOOD OF ACTIVE SEISMIC FAULTING, AND POTENTIAL SEISMICITY IN THE AREA.
  • RECOMMENDATIONS REGARDING DEWATERING FOR CONSTRUCTION UNDER WATER TABLE LEVEL.
  • SUMMARY, CONCLUSIONS AND RECOMMENDATIONS.
